FAQs

When should I start my dress search?

Finding your dream dress should be an exciting and enjoyable experience so you should try and give yourself as much time as possible.

We suggest you allow up to nine months from start to finish to take into account any alterations required.

However, our suppliers do hold stock lines in the UK, so if you have a short wear date please contact us and we can advise accordingly.

What sizes are your sample gowns?

Our sample gowns vary from size 8 to 26.

Additional sizes are available on request. If you require further information then please contact us.

When we order a dress for you we take all of your measurements and make a recommendation as to what size you need.

Size guides vary by designer and can be smaller than high street sizes.

Do I need to book an appointment?

We offer a strict appointment-only service to enable us to dedicate the time your wedding deserves – with no pressure to buy.

At Meggie & Ma we will initially book you in for a one hour appointment.

How do I prepare for my appointment?

It could benefit you to do some research on dress styles beforehand to get an idea of what necklines and shapes you would like to try.

It’s extremely important to set a budget. We understand how costly a wedding can be and strive to offer beautiful dresses and accessories to suit individual budgets with no compromise on quality.

Come with an open mind, and be honest with us. And eat something – shopping for your dress can be exhausting!

Who can I bring with me to the appointment?

You’re welcome to bring family or friends (to a maximum of four as we are a small family-run boutique) to enjoy this unique experience in a friendly and relaxed setting.

We suggest bringing someone whose opinion you trust and will offer constructive comments regarding the gowns and how they flatter your figure.

What do I need to bring with me?

The correct undergarments can make the difference between a wedding dress fitting well and a wedding dress fitting perfectly.

If you already have the undergarments that you will be wearing on your wedding day, it would be best to wear them the day of the appointment, or at least bring them with you.

If not a strapless or backless bra would be ideal.

Try and style your hair in a way that resembles the hairstyle you are thinking about wearing for your wedding day.

By doing this, you’re going to get a more realistic image of how you will look in the wedding dress and we will be able to find you the perfect accessories to complement your gown.

How much do alterations cost?

We are partnered with a local seamstress that we can recommend to you for alterations.

They undertake the alterations in their own work studio, located in Grantham.

When you purchase your bridal gown we will introduce you to our seamstress and provide you with their details.

The standard package to include your bridal gown taken in, up and a bustle is approximately one hundred and fifty pounds.

What is a bustle?

A bustle pulls the back of the dress off the ground so it doesn’t get soiled, it allows the bride to move around after the ceremony with ease, and it alleviates some of the fear of tripping over a long train.
